Before her hospitalization, Princess Bha earned degrees in law and international relations, worked with the United Nations and served as Thailand’s ambassador to Austria. She was noted for advocating for the rights of incarcerated women and promoting the U.N.’s 2010 "Bangkok Rules."
Once considered a possible successor to the throne, the princess has never married and has no children. The palace updates have shifted attention to other potential heirs, particularly Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti, 21. The king also has children from other marriages; some lived abroad after a split with his second wife, one son returned to Thailand in 2023, and a daughter was returned to the royal household.
